Getting Unstuck – 5 Tips To Get You From The Sidelines Into The Ring!

April 5, 2016

When was the last time you did something new? Something scary?  For the first time?  When was the last time you took your turn?
I’m sure your reasons for not doing, are good ones.  They are likely based on serious things like time, money, a headache, gum on your shoe, the dog needing grooming, removing hair from your bathtub drain and more.  The biggest reason not to do something is fear.

How many opportunities have you missed because you were afraid to seize an opportunity, look it squarely in the eye and dive in?  Too many to mention.  Too many to count.

Our actions are determined by two driving emotions, fear or love.  With one, you experience the gut wrenching pain of struggle and suffering.  With the other, you receive abundance and experience something truly life changing.  Anything born from love and truth is a beautiful thing.

When we fill ourselves with fear, it is actually an illusion of our own creation.  Suffering happens when we expect life to change in a world that won’t and when we have expectations so beyond ourselves they are impossible to achieve.  Then you are stuck.  Paralyzed with fear.

Achieving a new level of wellness could be as simple as facing your fears.  If a 4 week cleanse like my Spring Cleanse could give you the green light on those first few steps towards wellness, then why wait?  What fear is holding you back?  Because it is fear.  Does the fear come from the changes you will have to make? The new foods you will discover?  Will it be frightening to have to give up your favourite foods for those less familiar, perhaps even less comforting for you?  Are you afraid of what might happen during the cleanse?  Are you afraid that after all these good efforts you might actually like yourself better?  Does success make you fearful?

No one ever accomplished anything by staying stuck in fear.  Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather didn’t earn a career total of $300M by not getting into the ring and facing his fear.  He did what we all need to do in the face of fear, embrace it. Notice it is there, say hello and continue doing what you must.  When we face our fear, even one like participating in a cleanse, we have a powerful opportunity to grow within ourselves.  Experiencing and acknowledging fear means the ground is unsteady under your feet and you are changing, reaching for the sky, becoming someone different.  Like a tiny acorn that becomes a majestic oak, this is you.

Haven’t signed up for your Spring Cleanse yet?  Here are 5 ways to get yourself unstuck.

  1. Acknowledge your fear.  It’s alright to be fearful but not to remain there.  Accept it and move on despite fear.  Emotions like fear and anxiety advance and recede like the tide but we don’t need to become saddled by them.  We figure out a workaround and carry on.
  2. Accept rough seas.  As Seth Godin states in his book, What to Do When It’s Your Turn (and It’s Always Your Turn), “The sailor doesn’t mind a rough sea.  It’s not because he’s physically different from you – it’s because the rocking of the boat is expected.”  We find our own sense of balance when the rest of the world is in chaos.
  3. Believe in the change you will manifest.  Know that your starting point is not your ending point.  You will take the first few awkward steps during the first days of the Spring Cleanse, steps that will feel foreign to you, but with consistent effort those small steps will build to a greater whole by the end of 4 weeks and then, then you can celebrate.  A transformation will have occurred through the work of the clean foods you have eaten and the cleansing foods effects on you.
  4. Embrace the Cleanse Community.  Rely on the community of first timers and veterans to support you through the entire process.  Even better, you will have a doctor, Dr. Rachel Corradetti ND, on board, who will be present on the FB page to answer your questions. And, I will be there too.  We will do this together.
  5. Be a change agent.  Follow the menu plans, recipes and exercises but manifest change in yourself.  Lessen your toxic burdens – nutritional, physical, emotional, spiritual.  Strive to be a different You.  Being a change agent within yourself empowers you to reach for the greater good.

Fear or love.  Stuck or unstuck.  To Cleanse or not to Cleanse?  It’s up to you.

Don’t skip out on this opportunity.  Do you care enough?

I am always listening,

Tosca

  1. What’s holding me back is not knowing what ingredients will be in the recipes. Will I be able to find the products in the store, will they be affordable, etc.

  2. Tosca, I signed up and paid for the Cleanse but haven’t received the materials yet. Did I miss them?

  3. I am fearful that I can’t find many of the ingredients in my local grocery store. I live in a town that doesn’t have specialty stores. I don’t fear anything, for the Lord is always with me, but I have an intense respect for the withdrawal symptoms I must endure. They ate beyond tough. I can tell you with absolute certainty that food, especially the wrong food is an addiction. Finally, I know Tosca isn’t a big fan of counting calories, but too much of a good thing will cause my weight gain also, and it’s hard to count calories with these recipes.

  4. I did order the cleanse but I have the same concern as Jen (above). Mostly the cost. I already spend a lot on groceries to get organic, grass fed,, etc etc but some of the not so easy to find products are just too expensive. Sometimes I just leave them out to save a little. Looking forward to the cleanse but also anxious about finding the time to keep with it after the first week or so. I’m sure many of us would love to see when Tosca makes all her food.. Maybe a blog post or FB posts each day or every couple days letting us know when she is cooking & which foods she is preparing. I think people would find that very motivating!

  5. I’m so excited for this cleanse because the fall cleanse really helped in changing my lifestyle. It really didn’t cost more than all the fast food runs and junk and snacks we would buy. We found new foods and still use many recipes monthly and my husband’s favorite weekly. But, I am also afraid that I will not stick to a clean lifestyle. And put the weight i have lost back on. I’m afraid of always being the fat girl in my family and failing. I sometimes feel like why try if I am just going to fail?.

  6. I have to say I totally agree with Debbie and Jen. I do fine it very difficult to fine the ingredients in the store and i dont have time l to be driving from store to store and when i do fine it, it is very exspensive. I do have a few of you cook books. Enjoyed some of the recipes. Do you recommend a grocery store that will carry most of the products.

  7. Hello Debbie.
I understand you completely. Facing down a document that stipulates what you can eat for 4 weeks or more, launches fear in the bravest of hearts. I was once you. That is how I felt. Rest assured I want you to replace fear with confidence.

To offset the cost of some of these items, think of how powerfully you are effecting your health in a good way. That helps a bit but everyone today also wants to watch their budget. The initial grocery list can seem daunting but also remember that many of these items are nutritionally dense and will last for the duration of the cleanse potentially, particularly dry goods. Also, in season, local foods are often more budget friendly than others and we have based the cleanse on these foods to the best of our ability. If you are unwilling to change up your menu then you don’t have to. You could eat the same foods for the entire 4 weeks if you want to, on repeat. But I wanted to provide a thorough cleanse experience and thus gave you an abundance of recipes and options.

I will address your concerns in a blog or two and I will also do some live FB events showing my food prep. Great suggestions my sister in wellness.

    Thank you,
    Tosca

  8. Jen! Today is the day! We will be releasing the Grocery List for Week 1 along with some of the recipes that need to be prepared in advance. If you read my above response to Debbie’s question you will see how to handle the issue of cost.
    I hope this helps.
    Warmly,
    Tosca

  9. Thank you so much Tosca! I can’t wait to get the cleanse & get started I am dedicated to giving it my all!!!

  10. I haven’t signed up yet because I fear that I will not follow through and then I’ll be out yet another $60. I’m also fearful that the fact that I am moving from my house that I have lived in for 24 yrs. to an apartment (just temporary till we find a house) will somehow interfere.
I feel I’ve been transforming for some time now and I am finally leaving my ‘shell’ for something more suitable. I am changing my life little by little and this could actually be the perfect thing to do. Will I do it? That’s what I fear.

    -Debbie

  11. Hello Debbie.
Thank you for your truth. It’s true. We can get stuck in “what if” thinking. It happens. To everyone. In fact, I felt exactly like you just 4 weeks ago when I had to leave my larger house for a very small house. I’d lived in that home with Bob and afterward his passing for 17 years. I get it. I was filled with fear.

What happened instead, is that I felt safe. I felt like life was more manageable again. The place is much smaller and easier to clean and I have more time for things like exercising, writing, spending time with my daughters and cleansing. I think you will be surprised to experience this lighter, less weighed down feeling. I hope you will.

This cleanse could help you clarify many things not just diet related. Mental clarity is reported by virtually everyone after doing the cleanse. It may be just the thing!

    I am here for you.
    Cleanse or not.
    Warmly,
    Tosca

  12. Hello!
We made it! I hope your inbox is filled with lovely things this morning.

    Enjoy,

  13. Hi! I signed up for the cleanse. It’s 10:00pm and I haven’t received the grocery list yet. Did I miss something?? Is it posted somewhere? Thank you, can’t wait for this to get started!

  14. Hi Kristine, I came here to ask the same question, but now I see that it arrived in my email inbox about 10 minutes ago. Maybe its in your email now as well..?

  15. Just got the list, thank you!! It all looks great!

  16. Thanks Tosca! I signed up yesterday and have my grocery list printed out. I’m not familiar with some of the items on the list, but I just googled them and found pictures and descriptions of the items, so it will make it easier to locate them at the grocery store.I’m ready to do this!

    Thanks for all you do!!!

  17. HI Kristine.
    Glad you received your list.

I have an idea. Why don’t you share with me, here, the items you aren’t familiar with, and I can address that on the blog today.

    Looking forward to your list.
    Tosca
