Birds are singing… I can hear that morning is on its’ way. Time to stay put, in my comfy bed and listen to my first meditation of the day. I swipe to my music and find Dr. Wayne Dyer’s Moses Code Meditation. I love!! I fall into the mantra… I am that, I am.
It’s time for some delicious coffee made with beans from Equator Coffee Roasters https://bit.ly/2vc6EZP. I bought them the last time I was in Westboro, Ottawa. Yum! Such good coffee! While the pot is brewing I take the next 15 minutes to write in my journal. Right after meditation is the perfect time to download any messages my brain may have delivered. I do get messages. Most are images but I often get words.
I’m enjoying my coffee, often with grass fed butter and MCT oil and listening to Ludovico Einaudi, who I’ve fallen completely in love with lately. I discovered him through business guru Marie Forleo and got to see him in concert twice this year!! So moving! He is my writing inspiration. With coffee in hand and a few Medjool dates with coconut oil – pre-workout snack – I read. Currently it is Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Living and next up is Sapiens (thanks to a friend’s recommendation). I believe we must always be working on our self-development – I’ve got so much work to do!!
I’m pulling on some lovely workout tights. Does anyone else get excited by these like I do??? The gorgeous folks at Reebook sent me a goodie box and I have to say, I am loving what I see. You will see me wearing it all, right down to my shoes, at the upcoming World Fitness Expo (WFE) in Toronto. But focus now … Get dressed Tosca! Workout is at 7:00 am.
In the car I listen to podcasts. My current favorite is Legends and Losers with Christopher Lochhead. He’s irreverent, vocal, opinionated and colourful. And that is exactly what keeps me listening. I learn so much. Recent big learn? “What is your body of work?” In other words, what do you have to show for your efforts here on earth? We need a body of work. We need to produce. Listening!!
I’m at Sue’s Ignite Fitness where I get my buns whipped into shape. Many of you have asked why I would need a personal trainer. I can train others but I do find that I thrive when I am in the hands of a personal trainer who doesn’t blow smoke up my @$$. Sue is just the gal for that. She fires me up. I love! By the way, she will be my guest at the WFE. Maybe you can meet her. She’s awesome. Just look for the most muscular arms in the room – and that will be her!
After a serious METCON workout, in which I have challenged myself so much I think I might throw up and for which I need a towel to staunch the stream of sweat, I stagger out of there and head home for breakfast. I’m eating greens and eggs these days and fresh blueberries – they are in season. I gently sautee arugula and spinach in coconut oil and top with easy over local eggs. I could eat this every day.
I’m fed, watered and exercised – I feel like a horse! – and feel ready to tackle the day. On the agenda is, writing. A lot of it. Oh and taking care of everyday things that keep life interesting.

Latest fun and games at the house. The sump pump was alarming. I went to see what was going on and water was, of course pouring out. Not good. This was fixed last year to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. The plumber comes and is working away down there. I’m in the kitchen writing. I hear him yelling. I think, “what now??” He keeps yelling until I come down. He says, “Do you see what is wrong?” I don’t know WTH I am looking at but I can see he has taken the pump out and there is a bunch of muck on the floor. He shows me that someone must have flushed a sock down the toilet and that it had become stuck in the pump piping. It ground the brand new pump motor ($6500) to a halt. He spent a long time clearing out the sock and told me he hoped the pump would work. I hoped it would too, trust me! He said, “go back to your work, I will call you when I’m finished.” I go back to the kitchen, quite calm because now I am used to everything going to hell over here, and do my work. He comes upstairs and triumphantly announces the motor is fine and the sock is free. Oy!!
And then this… Torrential rain that threatened to overflow into my basement forced me to grab a shovel and dig a trench. Not a little trench. A long, 20’ trench. My brother-in-law, who is a contractor, saw this video and congratulated me my handi-work. He said I would be an easy hire for a construction crew. I was just grateful I was strong and tough enough to handle the digging for so long. I was outside in the pouring rain for 5 hours. It was exhausting work. But the gym is dry!! Yay! Now to fix the problem.
I spent so much time dealing with problems at the house, I didn’t get much done and I certainly didn’t eat much. I was ravenous. Lunch was one of my favorite Eat Clean salads – a Greek Salad with fresh oregano out of my garden. So yummy and fresh! I usually top it off with quinoa for protein.
Now I picked up where I left off … writing time again. I like to do what Robin Sharma, leadership expert, suggests: “Monomaniacal focus and ridiculous levels of practice are the tools that the ordinary performers use to reach mastery.” I do that I get so much more out of my time. I’m more productive and my thinking is deeper and more in a straight line. So I work hard to protect that monomanical time. When I next look at the clock it is 6:30 pm. I’ve put in a good amount of effort. Time to freshen up for dinner with a friend.
Dinner at my friend Pia’s house is always delicious. She has a way of taking fresh ingredients and turning them into something fabulous, minus the stress. I usually stress over everything in the kitchen. She doesn’t. She makes it look simple. We share the tasks evenly – she cooks and I am the sous chef, which basically means I watch. Haha! There may be a glass of wine involved. Just maybe. We have great fun together and before I know it, it’s 10:00 pm and time to head home.
I’m in bed, right back where this day started. It’s been full, challenging, humbling and filled with activity. I’m blessed. I had this day. I enjoyed it all. I spend a few minutes giving thanks and listen to the Moses Code Meditation once more as I drift off to sleep … I put my subconscious mind to work solving the problems of tomorrow …
