YOUR NEW NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

A fresh take on fitness you won’t want to miss

I encourage you to make no resolutions this New Year. Mic drop, amiright?

Break the rules. Make intentions instead.

A resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. The plan might be good but success rates blow. They are so bad that only 5% of people achieve even one of their goals to be better next year.

If everyone fails, what’s the point of making resolutions?

There has to be a better way.

What could drive your desire to become leaner, fitter, healthier, more strongly? What would have to change about your thinking that could help you avoid becoming one of the 95%?

The answer? Emotions.

From the book, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, the author shares that emotional energy drives success in any area of life.

“All thoughts which have been emotionalized (given feeling) and mixed with faith, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart.”

When you deeply, emotionally connect with the thing you want, it’s virtually guaranteed you’ll achieve it. The Universe conspires to help you achieve it.

If you give that statement some thought, you realize resolutions are often just statements of things you think you want. A list of goals won’t galvanize you into taking action. What you need is a powerful emotional driver that works like secret sauce.

For example, when I work with clients, I always ask what it is they want most out of working with me. The usual answer is they want to lose any number of pounds. They haven’t been able to shed weight on their own. Frustration levels are high. Emotionally they feel terrible; sad, depressed, frustrated. These emotions are what have driven them to take action.

As for achieving weight loss, losing pounds is a fine idea. But on its own it’s only a wish. It’s not until you mix that goal with emotion that it becomes a living thing. That’s why it’s important to understand what it is about losing any amount of weight that matters to you.

Ask yourself:

  • What feeling will you have once you lose weight?
  • What will you be able to do when the extra pounds are gone?
  • What will you look like once you have worked yourself back to health?
  • What clothes will you wear when you’re multiple pounds lighter?

Emotions are the language of your cells.  Every cell inside you is controlled by its physical and energetic environment.  The key here is to make your cells happy.  Once you understand this it becomes easier to be intentional about all aspects of your life.

Ask yourself a series of questions:

  • What are the things you love to do?
  • What physical movement gives you joy?
  • What about your life gives you joy?
  • How do I feel when I move my body?

Allow your emotions to be your inner GPS.  “Find something that makes you happy and fixate on that.  That is the answer to all things.  It’s the answer to getting what you want.” Abraham Hicks

Think about your goals for New Years differently. Ask yourself instead, how you really feel about doing the work that will make you fitter, leaner, healthier.

What’s the best exercise to help you lose weight? Do the thing you love.
What’s the best plan to help you lose weight? Find the system that makes you feel good and stick to it.

I believe that’s why Eating Clean works so well. It’s a system that when you stick to it, not only makes you feel better fast but heals your cells on the inside within 3 hours!

Once you become intentional about what you eat, how you exercise and caring for your emotional head and heart space, everything comes together. The body follows where the mind leads. Feeling good about what you eat naturally alters your body and every biochemical process in it. Tapping into the exhilaration of moving your body floods you with powerful feel good neurotransmitters. You’ll feel good fast.

The medicine men and women, sometimes called Shamans, of our indigenous people will always ask four questions when someone comes to them in a state of dis-ease.

  • When did you stop singing?
  • When did you stop dancing?
  • When did you start being uncomfortable in the sweet territory of silence?
  • When did you stop being enchanted with the stories, especially the stories of your own life?

These beautiful questions speak to the core of you. They also provide a way to connect with your body as it is now, and to celebrate it. To remember how beautiful it is to be here on this earth in this experience of life.

Wishing you the brightest and most beautiful New Year,

Tosca
